Bird Activity picking up -- if it would just stop raining...

On Monday my Ospreys at Cap'n Jacks put on a nice show and then I got to see an Otter in Mud Pond. Dipped on the Blue-winged Teal in the morning, but the female showed itself briefly in the ran in the afternoon.

Still misting on Tuesday morning, so I went "Up North" to get less of it, it did not work, but had a ton (ok five) Brown Creepers -- the last one (at Fisherville Brook) was very cooperative.

On Tuesday night some reported a Northern Shrike (my current nemesis bird) in Tiverton -- since I was headed to Aquidneck Island anyway, I went to take a look. It wasn't there -- and, of course, it was misting! Had some lovely Daffodils.

No birding on Thursday -- lots of rain, No photos on Friday -- still rainy. Quonnie on Saturday morning -- an American Woodcock (first I've had there) was Pweeting! 13 Piping Plover -- high count for the year so far! Plus 2 Northern Shovelers and a Lesser Yellowlegs at Succotash Marsh. There was NO RAIN!

Sunday dawned with beautiful blue skies and I headed for Marsh Meadows for a First of Year Snowy Egret -- I saw one, but it was far away -- will post photo just so you can see how far. The black bill is clearly visible. Off to Newport and stopped back at Succotash where I saw another Snowy Egret (did not need to go so far!) and a quick look at a Black-bellied Plover who landed briefly near some Killdeer at the Sweet Spot and flew off with them. Maybe they saw the Coyote in the next marsh...
