Approached Box Canyon from Greenville Road, which also had some nice birding -- a little greener (farms and such) than the arid Box Canyon.
The Arizona Trail crosses Greenville Rd.

Once I entered Box Canyon the road was well maintained but quiet twisty. Lots of good turnouts. I would recommend heading west, because that gives you the best views of the canyon from the driver's side. It was easy to take photos and see into the canyon itself.
I was hoping for a Five-striped Sparrow, but I got the sense we needed more water to see them. I did finally get my life Townsend's Warbler -- clearly I was taken with it
Loved this shot of a Canyon Towhee amongst the Evergreen...
The last stretch of the canyon before meeting up with Madera was slow, but I suspect the birds were resting in the shade.
