Brief touchdown in Rhode Island

I've been back for a few weeks and in two weeks I leave again. Busy trying to pack and learn the birds (by drawing them) I found out today, that I was working from an outdated list -- so I have @30 birds drawn I don't need and @100 I need to draw and fit into the current scheme, so I spent most of today reconciling the lists and getting reference photos to draw from. I'm tired already.

Still I've been out with the birds most mornings. So here's what's been happening.

Finishing out a chilly April -- I haven't done a beach sit at Quonnie yet. But saw some old friends around.

Chipping Sparrow

Eastern Bluebird

A very stealthy Juvenile Yellow-crowned Night-heron at Succotash Marsh

This Caspian Tern (and a friend) showed up at Wesquage Pond while I was in Florida -- and disappeared for a few days when I got back -- was happy to see it showed up again.

I don't usually see Eastern Towhee perched at the top of a tree -- usually they are foraging in leaf litter.

At Quonnie

My First Beach Sit at Quonnie started with this Mink in the Breachway

and I spent a bunch of time at the point with these Piping Plover fighting the wind!
