Early Spring?

It seems like Spring has sprung early --

This rarity arrived on Easter Sunday, but most of us didn't find out about it until the night time -- Fortunately we were able to see it the next day.

The White-faced Ibis is distinguished by white that goes all around a red eye (with red flesh surrounding it) and pinkish/red legs. Not an easy ID under any circumstances -- but more difficult when you can't see the legs

My friend Charlie has a place in Matunuck with a big field in back and that has yielded some great birds -- A First of Year Eastern Kingbird plus

Succotash Marsh has been good to me -- A Savannah Sparrow and a First of Year Willet.

Despite the fog (even upstate) it was a lovely birding day -- I thought it might be the day I finally get a photo of a Louisiana Waterthrush -- and even thought I heard 7, yes of them, I only actually saw two of them -- one high in the trees behind a bunch of branches with lousy light and the other perched only for a moment before it went further into the woods. I really want a photo of one IN the water -- they just seem to be in the trees... Ugh.

I did however have a nice session with a Coyote in Succotash Marsh.

Plus I saw what I believe is a Cooper's Hawk with white feathers flanking its tail while it was flying. Never seen that before. hmmmm...
