Harbinger of Spring

Writer's picture: Barbara SeithBarbara Seith

Many people (including some folks I ran into today) think Robins are the harbinger of spring. That may have been true when I was growing up, but it isn't anymore. The Robins are here all winter. Since I've been a birder the Red-winged Blackbird has ushered in the spring. A few days ago I saw them in dribs and drabs -- today they were all over the place. YAY!

It was a beautiful morning and I had a few surprises - Including a bit of time with the Red Fox -- but mostly it was a Robin & Red-winged Blackbird day.
