I did my first checklist for the International Shorebird Survey at Quonnie Breachway today -- they reached out to me a few weeks ago, I assume because I was there 4-7 times a week. They want me to do a survey at least 3 times in Spring Migration (started yesterday, ends June 15, peak 4/24-5/16) and again at least 3 times during Fall migration (starts 7/11, Ends 10/25, peak 8/10-9/10) so other than a few weeks in June/July from now until October. Basically I'd be there anyway, it is just a little more regimented.
I was happy that 12 of the 14 Piping Plovers we've seen over the past few weeks show up for roll call. Plus some Dunlin & Sanderling. Honestly, today it was frigid and I only stayed about an hour.
