It was breeding season for some of the Long tailed birds in Kruger -- right now they are shaking their tail feathers, but when the season is over they will drop their tail feathers and look more like their female counterparts.
Eastern-paradise Whydah - The Males perform a complex courtship ritual which includes multiple dances before mating.

Female

Magpie Shrike - Their tails are super-long up to 14 inches. Females also have long-tails.

Golden-tailed Woodpecker - the only part of South Africa that sees this species is Kruger, although they are common throughout the rest of Southern Africa.

Cardinal Woodpecker - small woodpecker, about the size of a sparrow. It is the most common & widespread woodpecker in the park. It is very lightweight and likes to climb on thin twigs.

Pied Crow - is quite uncommon in Kruger. Andrew hadn't see one in years until we found two at the man-made waterhole. They like to patrol the highways to find roadkill.
