Most Colorful Birds

I have a new Kruger bird app that has a number of lists (some of which did not apply to this trip), but this one had a number of birds that I saw this trip. It was winter, so the birds for less and generally a little less colorful, but even so these are pretty... so here goes
Crested Barbet - very dramatic plumage with a lovely crown on top and a BIG bill for a little bird. It spends a lot of time hopping around on the ground.

Lilac-breasted Roller - Beautiful colors from pink/lilac to green to aqua. Men from some African tribes present Roller feathers to the woman when they are proposing marriage. It is often referred to as a flying rainbow. We experienced multiple sightings of this species every day. Lovely!

White-fronted Bee-eater - Apparently this bird is notoriously hard to chase -- very transient and doesn't hang around for long enough to be chased. We were found them nesting and in other places -- of course, we weren't chasing them, they just showed up.

The holes are their nests

African Green Pigeon - Had my best looks at this unique and gorgeous bird. It sometimes hangs upside down to reach fruit. The often explode out of trees as you pass and rocket away. Most beautiful Pigeon I have ever seen, perhaps it is actually a Parrot.

Green-winged Pytilia - lovely conglomeration of different colors and patterns -- I'm not sure why it is named after the green wing (the drabbest feature on this bird). Perhaps it would be more aptly named the Red-tailed Pytilia or the Striped-belly Pytilia. You tell me...

Female

White-browed Robin-chat - Dramatic Black head with White eye stripe -- very deep orange body. This photo is from the last day of the last trip -- in my experience a tricky bird to spot.

Scarlet-chested Sunbird - Although the photo does not reflect it (very evening backlit) this species' entire breast is scarlet red and the throat is green -- almost a Christmas bird.

Those were the most colorful birds I saw this trip.
