Phalorope

Just the usuals at Quonnie this morning, but this afternoon Sue refound a Red Phalarope on Second Beach in Middletown. She and Louise talked the beach attendants into letting them in for free and the proceeded to find THE bird. Although its a 45 minute drive, I decided to go for it (Life Bird for me) and it was well worth it.

When I walked up they had eyes on it about 30 feet away. Thought I had forgotten my SD card and Sue was kind enough to lend me her camera -- and I proceeded to take shots of the wrong bird. I was a little fatootsed and I realized my card was already in the camera. Sue also held my camera multiple times -- so I really owe her for being my photographer's assistant in addition to finding the bird.

IMHO it is a lovely bird and I am very happy to add it to my list(s). On another note, my first Phalarope (a Wilson's) was also found by Sue. I saw it with Scott T (who pointed it out) and Bradley Murphy - it was the first time I met both of them. They arrived shortly after me today -- I guess that makes them my Phalarope posse.
