Still in the Tropics

Writer: Barbara SeithBarbara Seith

It was a little rainy this morning, but still had a bunch of Petrels (Great-winged) and Shearwaters (Cory’s, Tropical & Flesh-footed) plus a Cursor’s Beaked Whale.

Great-winged Petrel

Saw my first Wandering (in South Africa)/Snowy (on eBird) Albatross - very awe inspiring with a 12 foot wing span!

We went through three "habitat zones" (my term) the first and the last day were the tropical zone.

This is a photo of my favorite birding tour group in South Africa- Birding Africa - including Vince (on the right on the ground) & Andrew (second from right back row) but also newly met (in person) Callan (3rd from left - also help adjust my camera settings properly) David (3rd from right in back) & Dalton (second from left in the back row). Very knowledgeable & lots of fun.

Today’s exceptional sighting - the extremely rare Vince Penguin.
