At my usual haunt this morning there were no new birds, but the usuals were behaving differently. I sit in my beach chair on a small elevated sandy spot toward the end of a point. It is far enough away from the water, they most of the time the birds feel comfortable landing, feeding and hanging there while I watch them and take photos.
This morning there were so many different birds, it was breathtaking. Some birds that I rare see up-close and never for that long. Special for me was the American Oystercatcher and fairly large shorebird with red eyes and a long orange beak. Most non-birders have never even seen one.
I had the pleasure so spending about an hour with four of them (and a plethora of other birds) this morning. There is no better way to start the day.
