Got a new life bird (313 Life, 306 RI) this morning and it kind of reminded me of last summer when we spotted the Tricolored Heron. I was a Quonnie, Maria arrived a little before 7. We were catching up and I saw a bird about 20 feet away on the point. Thought it was a bird I've never seen live before and possibly a Ruff -- sent a pic to my friend Sue and she confirmed. Unfortunately it flew after @5 minutes and we did not see where it landed -- and about 30 minutes later of multiple people looking it started to rain. It was pretty cooperative and I was able to get a bunch of photos. BTW the Ruff is a spectacular bird in breeding plumage -- this is a juvenile and not anywhere near as exotic, but it will do.
