Seems like it a bag of Yellow-rumped Warblers was dumped out in Rhode Island this week. Suddenly they are everywhere, Trustom Pond Farm Field in particular. I spent my early morning there on Monday -- where I had a ton of diversity & a bag of Yellow-rumps, but also Tuesday where there were at least 2 or 3 bags of the old Butterbutts. On top of the volume, Yellow-rumped Warblers have a huge diversity of plumage this time of year -- at first glance, basically everything looks like a Yellow-rump.

The trail marker that greeted me -- I love the colors of the grasses... and I've never figured out what the numbers mean.

Tuesday morning at Trustom Pond with Maria, Dan Berard, Jan, Sue & Allison. Dan schooled me and Maria -- so many birds it was hard to know where to look -- needless to say we didn't see them all, let alone ID them.

Fog again on Friday started at Galilee Bird Sanctuary - put together this reel to practice for South Africa. It is my first try and a little basic, but it show the birds I saw along with the habitat. Hoping to get much more facile with this tool.
An interesting note -- this thing (I think it is a tree stump) showed up on the Sandbar at Quonnie today. Weird...

Just did the rounds on what was a very gloomy & rainy Saturday but it didn't yield any decent photos. On Sunday I started at Mud Pond having my first drink of my favorite fall coffee -- Maple Pecan and listening to a Clapper Rail in the reeds. I had both a Sharp-shinned Hawk (small one, the size of a Blue Jay and several Cooper's Hawks -- the Hawks are back in force a sign of fall.
