This is getting a little tiresome -- but it was Foggy again almost every morning this week. But I need to start with a Saturday Rhode Island report. That Magnificent Frigatebird was still in town when I got back, but I broke one of my rules -- don't chase. It made for a very frustrating three visits to Narragansett, yes even the one where I found the bird -- traffic, people and haze made it very difficult, but I finally saw it from Camp Cronin and was able to get several very distant photos.

Sunday morning at Quonnie was very foggy and doggy -- I didn't stay long.

Again very foggy in Quonnie on Monday -- sensing a trend here? No Photos worth posting.
Tuesday was -- Foggy! Had the usual suspects, but an exciting Whimbrel flyover in the fog -- close enough to see clearly but too quick for a photo. Who knows where it went.
A quick stop at Succotash yielded some ok fog photos and the first decent photo of my Osprey check at Cap'n Jacks!

Wednesday it was on and off Foggy -- so I finally got my Roseate & Foster's Terns (and WHAT? Yet another Royal Tern) and had a long visit with what I originally thought was a Snowy -- but I'm really not sure -- even after I vetted it with the eBird folks.

Took a ride on the Block Island Ferry and was lucky to see this Great Shearwater in the fog...
It was clearer on the way back but the birds were very distant -- except for a few gulls
Great Black-backed Gulls
Had a crowd at Quonnie on Friday looking for the Whimbrel & special Terns. It was pretty quiet.
Nice to finally see the place in the sun (for a few minutes)
Had some very cooperative Barn Swallows
I arrived at Quonnie Saturday morning at 5am and there were only 3 parking spaces left. I thought I was in for a very short session -- but no I had two hours before some guy let his dog loose on the sandbar and flushed all the birds. I just don't get why people think that is ok. People!
Finally a really clear sunrise

I almost didn't go to Quonnie this morning -- but I'm glad I did! Surprisingly nice morning at Quonnie -- no fog but not great light. Had a birder friend join me a little before seven. Had a nice assortment of birds that were fairly usual but I don't always see. We both left when a man released his dog on the Sandbar (third day in a row someone has done that) and flushed all the birds.
I've mentioned before I seem to be a Royal Tern magnet recently and again today one showed up. I don't think it is the same one as a few days ago (distinctly different haircut). Nice to have someone to share it with. It didn't stay long.
Here are Sunday's lovelies from Quonnie
