Started today at Beavertail hoping to see a significant morning flight -- but the wind turned from NW to calm last night and I saw/heard nothing until almost dawn. When the alert came in that the American White Pelican (which I keep wanting to call a Penguin) was still in Warwick, I aborted the Beavertail stakeout and headed to Warwick.
The Pelican was there but the intense morning light made it a challenge to photograph. But you can see how big it is compared to the Double-crested Cormorants next to it. I had a nice visit with the bird -- and I got to see lots of other birders!
Next stop was Apponaug Cove - a beautiful little cove on the way home that I rarely visit. It was filled with birds and very peaceful. Nice way to spend a Sunday morning -- in my church.
