Today was not supposed to be about a bird -- I went to NY to have breakfast with my Stepdad. I went to Stamford CT to meet my art teacher for lunch then to my old office to catch up with some colleagues. Then I stopped by Cove Island Park where a rare gull (ironically named Common Gull) has been hanging out for the last month+. I was not expecting to find it -- there were hundreds of gulls there (and combing through that many birds is tedious at best, particularly when the main field mark is the bill and they love to tuck it in) -- it was sitting in the parking lot untucked & waiting for me. Some days they just surprise you - a new life bird for me. Oh yeah -- then there was the 90 minute drive home that took 3 hours. Ugh.
