Owl banding

Had an amazing owl event last night -- it has taken me all day to come up with a post that almost does it justice. I equate it to my Whale trip to Mexico -- just unadulterated joy & awe at nature. I looked into the eyes of 5 different tiny Northern Saw-whet Owls and they looked back (they usually expect 0-2). I had one sit on my arm for 11 seconds and look me right in the eye -- there is nothing like it. I am so grateful for the event, for the bander Peter Paton and for my birder friends who joined me. Wonderful, unforgettable time for me, enhanced by sharing it with good friends who share a passion for and wonder of birds. Thanks to Rhode Island Audubon & Jeff Hall for making it possible.
