Preparing for Birdability & Costa Rica

I've been a little neglectful of my Rhode Island Birding as I've been preparing for the first event Birdability Week with local events in Rhode Island. I've been a captain for several years, but never been around for the week itself. I've got 10 events happening locally and I'm doing a talk on Car Birding for the National Program. It's been a lot of work, but I'm hoping it comes off well and reaches the audience we are looking for.

I'm also going to Costa Rica for a birding trip in a few weeks. The first part of the trip is with a guide I don't know, but he was highly recommended by my Birding Travel Group. He's taking me to the Pacific Slope near Tarcoles which should yield different birds than my Relaxed and Easy Victor Emmanual Nature Tour that will be mostly in the Central Highlands. I'm studying hard and starting on some art pieces to get to know the birds better. It's been a busy time.

But I'm still getting out there a bit.

Did something a little different -- went to a Hawk watch in New Haven for the morning. It was wonderful and fun to practice shooting photos of Hawks. Also ran into some Connecticut Birders I haven't seen in a while and it was nice catching up.

We had lots of birds (Over 700) and the preponderance were Cooper's & Sharp-shinned Hawks.

Next week is Birdability Week and I'm not sure how much I will be out photographing anything. So the next post will likely be close to my departure mid-November for Costa Rica. Just Go Birding!
