Busy birding day started with a lot of fog. First bird of the year -- Short-eared Owl - heard it and then it flew in front of my car. A few other lovely surprises - then hit a couple of rarities that are in town and headed down to East Beach to see if maybe the Red Crossbills would fly over the parking lot. Better yet I ran into Peter Fish who was waiting for Kate Turner Folan who has a nice big Jeep -- she took us on a lovely ride down the sand trail (it is pretty beautiful when you aren't walking in deep sand). Then a kind of scary ride down the beach (in rough shape after the last storm) and back up the trail. We picked up Allison O'Connor and found the birds. The Angel Kate dropped me and Peter off and headed back down the trail to pick up Marjorie Bradley & Richard to help them search and give them a lift back. Thanks Kate couldn't have done it without you! I look forward to our next ride...
