In December I decided I was going to go on a Road Trip. Originally, I was thinking San Diego to see my birding friend Martha and to take part in the Audubon Festival. Subsequently I decided to go to Florida instead.
I have a lot of friends who either live or winter there and I’m familiar with the Drive. Since I haven’t flown in almost 11 years, I prefer to be able to drive to my destinations. Also I have a lot of birding gear and I like to have it with me. That would not be possible with a flight – so drive I will.
Here is a general itinerary
· 1/27 -- Depart Westerly
· 1/29-1/31 – Saint Simon’s Island, Georgia -- First Birding Destination
· 1/31-2/3 – Jacksonville, Florida
· 2/3-2/5 – Titusville/Orlando, Florida
· 2/5-2/9 – Palm Beach/Boynton Beach, Florida
· 2/9-2/13 – Fort Myers, Florida
· 2/13-2/15 – Homosassa, Florida
· 2/15-2/16 – Tallahassee, Florida (St Marks NWR)
· 2/16-2/17 – Gainesville, Florida
· 2/18 -- Return to Westerly
I have scheduled birding almost everyday of the trip and know I probably won’t get to everything. At this point I am just hoping for decent weather and lots and lots of bird moments.
I will be blogging along the way, so I come follow along with me.
