The Terns reTurn!

This week marked the return of the Terns -- finally had them in numbers! There was even a Sandwich Tern spotted in Naragansett. On Monday I had Forster's, Roseates, Commons & Leasts. At times side by side.

Ugh -- the fog was back on Tuesday at Quonnie. It lifted enough to see that my Cap'n Jack's Osprey nest has not one, but TWO nestlings. So exciting -- also some new hay bales attracted a bunch of Starlings.

Wednesday the fog rolled in again, but lifted just long enough for us to see five Whimbrels and some other stuff at Quonnie.

The Semipalmated Plovers are back too!

Thursday the fog finally cleared -- and good thing. A busy day starting at Quonnie and ending on a Whale Watch (mostly for birds)

The Whale Watch was not particularly birdy, but we did see 4 Fin Whales and got an extra long boat ride! We went almost directly south.

It's a tern -- just don't know what kind...

Friday took me to Succotash (Heard & briefly saw a Seaside Sparrow), Galilee Escape Road & Camp Cronin. Not Foggy and some not quite certain birds.

Skipped Quonnie again on Saturday to avoid the mayhem that is Quonnie on the weekend. Started at Succotash to see if I could get a photo of the Seaside Sparrow and didn't even hear it today, but got to see more Saltmarsh Sparrows & one of my Osprey nestlings exercising its wings.

On Sunday I closed out the week with an early morning visit to Quonnie -- had a nice visit with the usual suspects, then off to Shickasheen farm for a good photo session with a Solitary Sandpiper.
