I awoke really early this morning, but the ocean was already calling to me. I drove down to my favorite look out, listening to show tunes on my Sirius radio station with a very wide smile on my face. I sat drinking my coffee and listening to the waves and thinking how happy this daily early morning practice has made me. On the way home, with the sun now in the sky, I passed the salt pond where a flock of egrets was wading and fishing; putting on an early morning show. I love that I can now get in my car and, in minutes, be experiencing the natural world in this way. It reminds me of my parents – who were both avid birders and campers. They instilled the love of nature in me. Living in the New York Metro area, one doesn’t experience this kind of nature all that often, and eventually I lost my way, but I'm back. Even sitting at my desk now, nature is still all around me. I listen to the birds chirp above me, and gaze out the window at the ocean below me, and I am confident that I am in the perfect right place at the perfect right time.
