I ran into an old friend last week and he was more than happy to pose for me… or so I thought. Actually, from the moment I set eyes on him, it was clear something else was commanding his attention.
He was watching a spider. Not just any spider, but a bright orange legged and yellow distended stomach spider. It was a big one. I knew Titmice (?) like insects, but I didn’t know they went for ones this big.
I didn’t even know the special moment I was capturing when I took the photos. I just thought he was posing. I should have known better. They don’t usually pose, they flit and frustrate.
Zen birding lesson of the day: When a bird poses, look for something else interesting that is distracting them. Or just take photo and figure it out later.
