Turkeys & Foxes & Wrens, oh my.

Ok - Fox Sparrows, but who's counting. There were @30 Turkeys roaming on the snow in Weekapaug this morning. I love it when they achieve critical mass, because that is when the amusing behavior starts. Today it wasn't the mass, but an individual who was trying to walk ON the snow and kept dropping into the snow. Not sure how much we got, but it was upwards of 18 inches and that is a lot for a Turkey to slog through. I wish I had a video, but you'll get the idea from the photos. Some of the birds decided to take to the trees, which I also find amusing.

The Fox Sparrows were hunkered down in Quonnie and the Wren unphased was nearby singing away.

Shortly afterwards I decided to play Turkey and got my car stuck in snow that was deeper than it looked at the Charlestown Breachway. Fortunately my sister & brother-in-law paused their own driveway shoveling to help me dig out. About 20 minutes after I got stuck, the state park snow plow came along and plowed a clear path to the breachway. He was very nice but told me he couldn't tow me with a state vehicle -- I told him no worried help was on the way. I'm sure it won't surprise you to know I kept birding (although not at the Breachway), to no avail.

Still it was good to be out and I had an adventure -- I did not take a photo of the stuck car.
