Autumn farewell

Monday dawned with a cold snap and beautiful leaves. I did 3/4 of the Moonstone Quadrangle, South Kingstown Town Beach and Succotash before returning home only to get a notice that there was a Rare bird at Quonnie. It was aggravating because the construction made it a longer trip than I thought. I won't miss that.

Tuesday was a bit of a frustrating birding day... My best birding time was at the start at Beavertail State Park - nothing extraordinary, but a nice morning and I was getting a little bored, so I left and as I was driving out, my friend Linda was driving in. It's a one way loop, so I didn't see her.
Shortly after she got there, she found a Blue Grosbeak, a bird I still need for 2023. I would have gone back, but I saw the traffic when I left because they are doing some construction on the Newport bridge and I wasn't going through that. I have a trip to prep for. Here are the few photos I have from this morning.

What else -- Yellow-rumped Warbler!

Wesquage Pond
Green-winged Teal

We'll see what tomorrow brings...Went back to Beavertail hoping to see the Blue Grosbeak -- no luck! Did see a beautiful Indigo Bunting (that wasn't blue), some Sparrows and a LOT of Gulls. Stopped by Easton's Pond to take in the waterfowl before a Dr. Appt in Middletown.

Ruddy Duck (Duck!)

Pied-billed Grebe (not a Duck -- a Grebe)

I had a lovely morning today starting at Beavertail to dip on the Blue Grosbeak again – I do not like chasing… Then to Succotash, Moonstone Beach Quadrangle & Quonnie. Not many photos just enjoying the places (and birds) I love and the turning of the season. Tomorrow I will probably go out briefly in Westerly, but I leave around noon for New Jersey and my departure to South Africa.

The perfect bird to end my blog this week -- tomorrow/Saturday are travel days. I hope to start posting a bit on Sunday -- but we'll see.
