It was an unexpectedly long birding day. I decided at the last minute to visit the "other" side of the state. It turned out to be a double edged sword. The farthest pond was breached by Izzy yesterday and the parking lot was a mess of stones. Hardly any waterfowl was in the pond which is usually teeming with birds. A Northern Harrier put on a good show, so there was a redeeming feature.
On the upside -- it was a beautiful day for a drive. Got a few new birds -- including a Barred Owl that surprised me in Tiverton calling loud & clearly. I ended the day a Scarborough Beach finally ticking off a Black-headed Gull and noticing when I got home that I had also seen and photographed a Bonaparte's Gull). A good day after two days of no new birds. I'm going to take a nap now...
